The above mission is the guiding force behind Novaballet; a mission which can be fulfilled every day, but also one that will never end. All of the artists involved with Novaballet believe in the transformational powers of this medium, and we attempt to fulfill this mission through performances that showcase a wide range of distinctive works by choreographers with unique visions. We also share this art form through our outreach efforts and this internet presence. We're building this company because we all share the conviction that cultural events are an ideal way for people from diverse backgrounds to establish closer relationships, and those relationships in turn strengthen our communities.
The world of dance is vast and varied. It has the ability to speak to every person in every life situation. In order to communicate this breadth of experience, we must constantly challenge ourselves with a broad range of artistic vocabulary. We do this in two ways: acquiring and presenting the works of noted choreographers, and commissioning new works which will be premiered by Novaballet. Unfortunately, ticket revenues only cover 45% of the expenses associated with fulfilling our mission.
Your gift will also go towards supporting the Osborn Ballet Program, an after-school experience offering professionally oriented ballet classes for inner-city children. The scope of the program also includes reading projects, field trips and visits from guest professionals. This in-depth program directly engages students with the discipline and physical benefits of ballet. For most of these students, this is their first engagement with any type of arts experience.
